BECOME A BRONZIE AMBASSADOR
Industry: Activity Breaks

Flipper up on Acacia Africa's 3-day Cape Town Marine Eco-tour, as you'll be giving a helping hand to the "Bronzies" and local eco-tourism.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - March 3rd, 2020 - Flipper up on Acacia Africa's 3-day Cape Town Marine Eco-tour, as you'll be giving a helping hand to the "Bronzies" and local eco-tourism. Not a protected species and under threat from commercial fishing, the brave copper coloured whaler sharks are regulars on the specialist's Great White Shark cage diving experience - the Gansbaai based activity included in the city stay. An adventure that will allow you to see the softer side of the many graceful predators who share these waters, the excursion is led by a marine biologist - ongoing research gathered on every trip.

Acacia Africa will be supporting its local operator via social media from World Wildlife Day onwards - the aim to see eco-tourism and fishing activities separated by a small exclusion zone.

Arno Delport, Sales & Marketing Manager at Acacia Africa comments, "We believe that being in the presence of these sharks and observing their extraordinary behaviour has a profound impact on our view of what are essentially incredibly vulnerable creatures - "Bronzies" a near-threatened species. We might arrive as safari-goers, but ultimately, we become their ambassadors. By taking part in the activity we also make a small contribution to ongoing research in the area, the local operator's we work with having equal respect for the environment and its inhabitants - our partners founding the Dyer Island Conservation Trust"

Acacia Africa's 3-day Cape Town Marine Eco-tour from £410pp (two sharing) including all tour highlights, dorm accommodation (single, twin and doubles available on request), one airport transfer, Gansbaai transfers, services of a commercially licensed shark dive crew and Marine Biologist, and a visit to the African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary. Excludes return flight. Daily departures, year-round.

Acacia Africa (020 7706 4700) SATSA membership No. 1931, Atta membership no. 20151 and ABTA No. W4093 PROTECTED.

Notes to Editors: Bronze whaler sharks or "Bronzies" are found in temperate waters and usually seen in active groups. Bronze whalers can grow up to 3.3m in length during its 25 to 30-year lifespan. They mature late, only able to reproduce at around 20 years of age making them a vulnerable species. They are considered near threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
