Enhanced Safety Measures a Resounding Success for Small Ship Cruising

The venerable cruise line operated a series of 4-night 5-day cruises of the St. Lawrence River in September and October, receiving a positive response from Canadian travellers who were eager to experience the spectacular fall colours of Eastern Ontario and the Thousand Islands region.

Most significantly, these cruises produced a clean bill of health for the cruise line’s enhanced COVID-19 safety measures. COVID-19 safety measures were in full effect in all aspects of the cruising experience, including guest screening, reduced passenger loads, physical distancing and mask protocols, as well as a ship-wide hospital-grade disinfectant regime. The decision to offer the condensed fall schedule was driven by consumer demand and followed months of research and preparation on behalf of the cruise line to meet evolving federal, provincial and municipal pandemic guidelines.

The M/V Canadian Empress operated with a maximum capacity of 40 Canadian passengers and 13 crew members. The vessel features 32 staterooms with twin fixed beds, private bathrooms, and access to fresh air and a view of the river.
