C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment's Activity Index – November 2021

Strong month for travel placements
More candidates were placed in travel job vacancies in November 2021 than at any point since the pandemic began, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment.
Last month's total number of travel placements was the highest since February 2020, but while the figure was up exponentially from last November, it remained down from November 2019 by 15 per cent.
Despite falling by 27 per cent from October 2021, vacancy numbers remained strong with the fourth highest total of the year. Demonstrating the current high demand for travel talent, November 2021’s figure was up by three per cent compared to the pre-pandemic month of November 2019.
Candidate numbers dip
It was a less positive month in terms of new candidates, with volumes falling by 21 per cent from October to reach their lowest level since May 2021.
While the number of new travel job seekers was up by 60 per cent from last November, volumes were significantly below levels seen before the pandemic, with falls of 19 per cent from November 2019, 43 per cent from November 2018, 48 per cent from November 2017 and 12 per cent from November 2016.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: "November was a very strong month for travel recruitment, with a high number of new vacancies and more job placements than we’ve seen since the beginning of 2020.
"But that isn’t the whole story. It is clear for everyone to see that we have a shortage of quality candidates in the travel industry. We need to be doing more to retain our current employees and to attract new talent into the industry – whether that is increasing salaries, improving flexibility or simply offering a company brand that is enticing and attractive to potential new recruits."
