RUGBY TAKES ON FOOTBALL IN A BUMPER MAY OF SPORT IN LONDON

Super Saturdays at Wembley and Twickenham will make fans show their true colours

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - April 29th, 2013 - London's two biggest stadia - Wembley and Twickenham - will go head to head on two separate occasions in May with major fixtures of both the rugby and football calendars clashing in what promises to be a mammoth month of sport in London.

At 3pm on Saturday 25th May 2013 the nation's two best rugby union club sides come face to face in the Aviva Premiership Final at Twickenham - just hours before the whole world tunes in to watch the football's Champions League Final at Wembley. A fortnight earlier, on Saturday 11th May 2013, the FA Cup Final at Wembley takes place at 5:15pm on the same day as a weekend of International Rugby Sevens gets under way at Twickenham. Travellers arriving from outside London to attend any of these blockbuster fixtures on either Super Saturday can conveniently book their accommodation on LondonTown.com, where there's a wide range of hotels in London to suit all budgets (and sporting allegiances).

The Champions League Final is the most prestigious event in European club football - and probably the most widely watched football game on the planet. The 2013 European Cup Final will see Barcelona or last year's beaten finalists Bayern Munich take on one of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in what will be a record-breaking second Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium in three years.

Meanwhile, around eight miles south of Wembley, the biggest domestic club final in world rugby returns to a sold-out Twickenham with the two best-placed sides in the Aviva Premiership squaring off in a winner-takes-all season-ending encounter. London-based Saracens currently top the league table and look a safe bet to face Leicester, Northampton or local favourites Harlequins, last year's winners, in the final.

The FA Cup Final on 11th May is the only game which, at the time of writing, has two confirmed participants. After respective Semi-Final wins over Millwall and Chelsea, Wigan Athletic take on holders Manchester City in football's main domestic club cup final - although there are still rumours that the scheduled 5:15pm kick-off will be brought forward to 3pm to facilitate most fans returning to the North of England after the final whistle.

Should the FA Cup Final be brought forward, then ultimate sports fans will find it tricky to take in the other of the day's other major sporting events - the Marriot London Sevens at Twickenham. Part of the HSBC Sevens World Series, this weekend-long celebration of the high-octane, fast-moving format of the game features the 16 best international seven sides, and is usually played out in a carnival atmosphere at Twickenham, with many fans turning up in fancy dress to emulate the famous Hong Kong Sevens. There are four competitions in total meaning the action comes thick and fast - very much like London's sports calendar in May.

All that's left for fans is to decide whether they're in the rugby or football camp - although you can safely bet than some sports mad souls will have tickets for both the Aviva Premiership Final and Champions League Final on Saturday 25th May. All these sporting events are featured in LondonTown.com's comprehensive 244-page London 2013: The Annual guide to the best the capital has to offer this year.
