SPIN London makes its debut in East London on the opening May bank holiday weekend reports LondonTown.com

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - May 2nd, 2013 - The streets of London are alive with the sound of spokes and the sight of saddles - so it's no surprise to see an urban-focused bike consumer show establish itself in the capital. Taking place over the May bank holiday weekend (Friday 3rd May to Sunday 5th May) at the Old Truman Brewery near Brick Lane, SPIN London promises three days of DJs, talks, films, fashion, food, racing, arts and - of course - bikes.

Celebrating the progressive urban cycling movement in the capital, the three-day festival will invite forward thinking international brands and small independent makers of fixed gear, single speed, custom and BMX bikes to showcase their products in one of the East End's most iconic venues. Travellers coming into town to take in SPIN London, or any bank holiday events in the capital, can conveniently book their accommodation on LondonTown.com, where there's a wide range of hotels in London to suit all budgets.

Also at SPIN London, emerging cycle fashion brands and accessory retailers will discuss and share their unique products. As well as browsing all the goods on display, there will be the chance to race your mates at the Rollapaluza static cycle race, watch urban cycling films (including the awesome Ted James X Spin London short) at the pedal-powered cinema and witness bikes being built in the live frame lab.

Chef Jimmy Garcia, known for his London pop-up supper club, will serve a menu of street food dishes that pay tribute to the world of cycling at Jimmy's Bike Bistro, while a cluster of live DJs and music acts will perform throughout the weekend - including Gideon Coe of BBC 6 Music, Hackney Globetrotter, Collectivo Futuro and DJ Dan Almond. The opening night on Friday 3rd May (5pm-10pm) is geared towards the press and trade - but there are a limited number of public tickets available for £12.50 on the door. Weekend public tickets cost £10 on the door with Saturday's event running from 10am to 7pm and Sunday's from 10.30am to 6.30pm. There are concessions for booking online at www.spinldn.com.

With multiple spin-off events taking place alongside the main festival programme, the SPIN London organisers are predicting the creation of "an ad-hoc, subversive, sub-level village for the discerning urban cyclist" at the Old Truman Brewery. You'd better get on your bike and see what all the fuss is about…
