The Scoop at More London Festival is back, offering another summer of free al fresco entertainment
(TRAVPR.COM) UK - June 4th, 2013 - In the summer London transforms into a world of outdoor drinking, free entertainment and happy people. The South Bank is the hub of this activity with the likes of the London Wonderground, Udderbelly and the Festival of Neighbourhood on its line-up. Adding to this impressive programme, the Scoop at More London returns this year for another summer of free entertainment. Situated in the city centre, opposite the Tower of London, the Scoop is nearby to a number of cheap London hotels that are bookable through LondonTown.com.
The outdoor amphitheatre is regarded as the 'king of al fresco venues' and stages a four-month season of free theatre, live music, film screenings and fringe events, with a month dedicated to each. It opened in May with free a free fitness boot camp, which will continue through to the end of August, but the real fun begins in June. Launching on the 5th, the month of June presents free fringe and offers a diverse programme. The Pantaloons Theatre Company will perform Sherlock Holmes, an inventive and humorous show for all ages; Merry Opera presents The Magic Flute, a pantomime and opera hybrid; and The Movement Factory will get visitors moving like they've never moved before with their one-stop-shop for dance development.
July moves on to a month of free music with artists from London and around the world performing every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtime and evening. Then, starting on the 7th, August offers four weeks of free theatre. With two fully staged productions, the daytime stages the family friendly Prince of Thebes, a magical tale of Thebes and his quest to lift an evil spell. Whereas once the sun has set and the children have been put to bed, older audiences will be able to enjoy Oedipus and Antigone, which chronicles the downfall of the Theban Royal family.
Concluding the season, September sees the amphitheatre present a month of film screenings, which will range from current to classic and cult to blockbuster films. The line-up includes the record-breaking Skyfall, the classic Back to the Future and the Oscar-winning Les Miserables.
