MARYLEBONE SUMMER FAYRE TURNS 10 WITH SOME HELP FROM MONOCLE

This weekend welcomes both the Marylebone Summer Fayre and Monocle Country Fayre

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - June 13th, 2013 - Returning for a tenth year, the Marylebone Summer Fayre brings all the trappings and trimmings of a traditional English country fete to the heart of London on Sunday 16th June 2013. For a second year running, the Summer Fayre coincides with the Monocle Country Fayre, which runs over the whole weekend from the magazine's Marylebone headquarters at Midori House on Dorset Street.

Considered one of the best and most engaging community events in London, the Marylebone Summer Fayre is organised by The Howard de Walden Estate and this year once again raises funds for Kids Company, a charity that provides practical, emotional and educational support to many of London's troubled inner-city children. Showcasing the very best Marylebone has to offer, the Fayre boasts food, drink and craft stalls, live music, children's activities, a farmers' market, tombola and lashings of community spirit.

Lasting the whole weekend, the Monocle Country Fayre returns with stalls from numerous local retailers, as well as a petting zoo, summery aperitifs, the Monocle tombola, games and a host of musical performers. The new Monocle Café makes its debut appearance alongside the welcome return of the Allpress Coffee Cart, while exclusive stallholders include Trunk Clothiers, Daunt Books, MagCulture, Drake's London and the Embassies of Sweden and Colombia. Visitors coming outside London to make the most of Marylebone's double bill of Fayres over the weekend can book their accommodation on LondonTown.com, where there's a broad selection of London hotels to suit all budgets and locations.

Welcoming the kind of engaging, broad-minded and stylish parents (and urban kids) that you would expect from readers of Monocle, the annual Country Fayre runs from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday. A free weekend of entertainment celebrating one of the most English of traditions from the magazine's trademark global perspective, the Monocle Country Fayre should prove a worthy warm-up - and accompaniment - to the area's main event on Sunday.

The Marylebone Summer Fayre street party stays open until 5pm while the fairground in Moxon Street car park will run until 6.30pm, with live music from some of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in the country playing on a stage in Paddington Street Gardens until 8pm. The Cabbages & Frocks Market will return to the parish church grounds, as too will the acoustic stage on Marylebone Lane, the farmers' market on Aybrook Street and the sports area at the top of the high street, with highlights including speed bikes, 'Spider Mountain' and an inflatable football game. New this year is a Spa Area on Paddington Street, where visitors can unwind with a range of treatments, massages and products.

Some of London's finest retailers and restaurants - including the local Conran Shop and New Zealand fusion food mecca Providores - are actively involved in a day, which pulls together an amazing array of activities. New Cavendish Street will also be more of a focus than before, with outdoor tables allowing the likes of Fat of the Land, Galleria, Nordic Bakery, Amanzi Tea and new burger specialists Slab to cater for al fresco diners.

The whole weekend is a wonderful showcase for the residents and retailers of Marylebone, whose close-knit and well-heeled neighbourhood is closed to traffic meaning revellers can really get into the spirit and appreciate the delightful surroundings of one of London's most central "villages".
