(TRAVPR.COM) UK - July 15th, 2013 - London’s first ever Tour de France Fan Park arrives in Canary Wharf from 15th to 21st July 2013 and cycling fans coming to London to watch the Tour can choose from a wide variety of hotels in London and enjoy an overnight stay in the city.
Cycling fans can watch the Alpine stages of the race, with live broadcasts starting at 2pm and evening higlights from 7pm. There will be cycling demonstrations, interactive cycling activities as well as cycling stalls and stands selling French regional produce. British cycling legends and well known sports stars are scheduled to drop by, making the Fan Park the perfect place for cycling supporters to escape the office and watch the Tour.
The Fan Park is not the only free event in Canary Wharf this summer. There are open air concerts in Canada Square Park through the Twilight Delights series which starts on Tuesday 16th July with Hot Havana Nights and continues until every Tuesday night until 20th August 2013 when The BBC Big Band present a night of nostalgia featuring timeless songs from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
As part of the Twilight Delights series, The Puppini Sisters & Friends perform in Canada Square Park from 7pm on Tuesday 23rd July, presented by The City of London Festival 2013 which continues at various locations across the City of London until Friday 26th July 2013.
From 19th July until 26th July 2013 the City of London Festival presents Random Acts at venues throughout Canary Wharf including a premiere performance by renowned choreographer and dancer Marc Brew on Friday 19th July at 5.30pm and 6.15pm in Cabot Square in which he works with the talented young students from the Central School of Ballet.
BP Big Screens beams opera live and free from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden to the big screen in Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf. The two performances in July are of ‘La rondine’ on Thursday 11th July, followed by Puccini’s dramatic work ‘Tosca’ a week later on Thursday 18th July 2013 with a pre-performance screening at 7.10pm before Act I begins at 7.30pm.
