The restaurants on Butler's Wharf turn their lights out for ten days, reports LondonTown.com

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - September 2nd, 2013 - Part of the Thames Festival, the Butler's Wharf Blackout will see all the restaurants on the wharf be completely blacked out for ten days. With the name of the River Thames thought to have derived from the Sanskrit term for dark, this blackout will pay homage to the original meaning of the 'dark river'. Running from 6th to 15th September 2013, the occasion will see Le Pont de La Tour, Cantina del Ponte, Blueprint Café and Butler's Wharf Chophouse host candlelit dinners every evening from 8.30pm. Diners travelling from further afield can find a number of great London hotel deals on LondonTown.com.

With the lack of light pollution it will provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Thames by the subtlety of candlelight. Each restaurant will offer a fixed 'Blackout Menu', with three courses for a set price. La Pont de La Tour will focus on locally sourced ingredients and will serve London cured salmon and Navarin of Foulness Island lamb; Butler's Wharf Chophouse sticks to British classics with wood pigeon and black pudding; and Cantina del Ponte celebrates Italian cooking with pumpkin, gorgonzola and pannacotta. Each venue has also created a bespoke cocktail menu with espresso martinis, daiquiris and whiskey sours among the options. Three-course meals range from £25 to £30 per person.

A further highlight of the event is the Blackout Banquet, a pop up 40 metre, 140 seat banqueting table that will span part of the central London riverbank. Diners will be able to feast on a rotating menu of dishes which showcase the highlights of each restaurant. Beginning at the British Butler's Wharf Chophouse, they will be taken on a journey to classic French restaurant Le Pont de La Tour and conclude at the Cantina del Ponte. The banqueting table will be open every evening throughout the festival and at lunchtime on Saturdays and Sundays, meals at the table costs £35 per person and include an arrival drink and a coffee.
