The Science Museum's exhibition dedicated to the Large Hadron Collider invites visitors to immerse themselves in the greatest intellectual adventure on the planet. One of the largest scientific and engineering endeavours of our time, CERN's giant particle collider in Geneva attempts to recreate conditions not seen since the Big Bang. The impressive exhibition, which further to the London showcase will also tour worldwide, provides a close-up look at remarkable examples of CERN engineering, from the bottle of hydrogen gas that feeds the great machine, to its vast dipole magnets.
One of Britain's best known talents, Sir Paul Smith is celebrated at the London Design Museum this winter. Open daily from 15th November, the exhibition looks back at four decades of work by the man knighted in the 2001 Birthday Honours List for services to the fashion industry. Not only will it showcase classics from his forty years of collections, it will also reveal something of the personality of the designer. Plus, the different stages in production will be explored and the individual designs of his shops, which are now located in sixty-six countries across the world, are highlighted.
The winning image of this year's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize is now on display at London's National Portrait Gallery. Spencer Murphy, 35, won the award with her image of jockey Katie Walsh, which was taken at the Kempton Park Racecourse while shooting a collection of portraits for the Channel 4 Original Extreme Sport campaign. Other shortlisted entries by Anoush Abrar, Dorothee Deiss and Giles Price will be on display alongside Murphy's photo at the gallery until 9th February 2014.
