London also hosts a number of major exhibitions this weekend, such as Behind the Mask at Somerset House. Celebrating the work of celebrity photographer Andy Gotts, the exhibition showcases photographs of A-list movie stars including Scarlett Johannson, Al Pacino and Robert de Niro. The Sunflowers exhibition opens at the National Gallery on Saturday, displaying two of Vincent van Goh's iconic Sunflower paintings, dating from 1888, alongside each other for the first time in 65 years.

While at the Royal Academy of Arts seven leading architects and urban designers provide a new perspective on architecture for Sensing Spaces: Architecture Reimagined. The exhibition sees the gallery's main rooms transformed into a series of structures, textures, scents and lighting to encourage visitors to explore the environments and think about how their mood is affected.

Helping kick the January blues, the London Comedy Film Festival returns this week. Taking place at BFI Southbank and a number of selected cinemas across London, the festival provides four days of playful, provocative, pioneering and passionate comedy film screenings. More light-hearted entertainment can be found at the London Improvathon, a mammoth fifty-hour improvised comedy soap opera performed by around twenty five actors for the entire period.
