The RA displays more than 400 photos by the iconic actor and director, reports LondonTown.com

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - June 6th, 2014 - The Royal Academy of Arts has long been known as one of the leading art galleries. Located close to the famous London hotel the Ritz, it has exhibited paintings by artists such as Degas and Manet. But, visitors can expect to see more than just paintings on display. The gallery also showcases drawings, sculptures and photographs. This summer, art lovers will be treated to photographs by the American actor and filmmaker Dennis Hopper.

Hopper is better known for his work on film and television and throughout his career he was involved in many famous films including Rebel with a Cause with James Deanand the epic Apocalypse Now. He also co-wrote and starred in the popular cult classic film, Easyrider.  Alongside his work in front of the camera, the American actor was a keen photographer and after his death in 2010 hundreds of photographs were discovered amongst his personal possessions. Largely taken between 1961 and 1967, Dennis Hopper’s photographs document the cultural and social life of America in the Sixties. Hopper captured some of the biggest stars of the decade including celebrities from the world of art, fashion and music. The Lost Album exhibition, which is organised in co-operation with the Dennis Hopper Art Trust, will bring together 400 hundred of these photographs which include portraits of artists and fellow actors.
